White people find

Now maybe they did ask these people where they got the stuff, and it doesn't much matter at this point, everything may as well be eaten before it goes bad....but it does make the press look like assholes.

Wow.. that is kind of crappy. The press needs to be more careful about what words it uses.

Oy. Predictable, and so indicative of our culture in general. UGH!

thats horrible. "finding bread and soda". sure. either way people have to eat, and it's not like there was anyway to buy it with the city under water. The press ought to be better than this.

Well there it is, plain as day. Them little white kids didn't mean no harm.

Racism is deeply entwined in this disaster. If it had been a town of mostly affluent white people instead of mostly poor black, then their engineering budget would have been kept sufficient to repair and maintain the levees BEFORE disaster struck. Back in 2003, the feds cut New Orleans' requested budget to only 1/5 what they needed. And it wasn't restored after last year's Florida hurricane crises.

I cannot express how angry I am, and it doesn't matter how angry I am. I am alive and my house is intact. I hardly know what to do with myself. I feel so much pain on behalf of the people who were killed and those who've survived.

Yes, Rose said pretty much the same thing. The levees that gave out were in poor neighborhoods, but the sad part is that once they did go, everyone was underwater, not just the poor.
